TCBF COMMUNITY OUTREACH
The TCBF Community Outreach Committee provides volunteer lawyers to charitable or civic organizations and supports community projects including Habitat for Humanity and The Day Center for the Homeless. Annual service projects include “Santa Brings a Law Suit,” a professional clothing drive, and the “Welcome Home Project,” a household item drive benefiting the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless. The Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless helps find safe, affordable housing for the homeless in our community. This is an opportunity to provide assistance and support to families and individuals making the transition from the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless to their own homes or apartments. The Community Outreach Committee helps provide each new household with basic items for their new home.
Welcome Home Project
Household Item Drive Benefiting Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless
WHAT: TCBF Community Outreach Committee is sponsoring this drive to collect household items to be donated to Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless’ clients.
WHY: The Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless helps find safe, affordable housing for the homeless in our community. This is an opportunity to provide assistance and support to families and individuals making the transition from the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless to their own homes or apartments. You can help provide each new household with basic items for their new home. Your donation of any or all items listed below will help someone truly starting over feel welcomed into their new home and new life.
WHEN: This year’s drive will be held July 10, 2017 – July 26, 2017.
WHERE: Items can be collected at your place of business and then delivered to the Tulsa Bar Center no later than Wednesday, July 26, 2017. Please collect the items listed below in bags, boxes, or any other container that will be easy to transport.
GOAL: To prepare fifty (50) “welcome home kits.” A welcome home kit is made up by the items listed below. Duplicates of any of the items listed below are always welcomed.
CASH: Many individuals and firms will prefer to make cash donations. We have estimated the cost per “welcome home kit” to be approximately $125.00. Such donations should be made payable to the Tulsa County Bar Foundation and mailed to the Tulsa County Bar Center. The memo line should read: Community Outreach, Welcome Home Project. We will provide these cash donations, along with the collected household items to the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless, so it can purchase additional household items after it determines the areas of greatest need. All donations are tax deductible, and tax receipts will be provided.

Santa Brings a Law Suit
Once again, the Tulsa County Bar Foundation, in conjunction with the TCBA, is gearing up for its ever-popular “Santa Brings a Law Suit” clothing drive. The drive annually provides business attire to men and women in need so they may make the best possible impression during a critical job interview or their first day of work. The legal community is particularly well “suited” for this task as so many of us wear professional attire every day. If you have professional or business casual clothes for men or women – suits, dresses, skirts, blouses, dress pants and shirts, ties, belts, shoes, etc. – please begin to put them aside for the benefit of needy and deserving Tulsans.
THIS YEAR’S DRIVE BEGINS ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2017 AND RUNS THROUGH DECEMBER 15, 2017
Clothing can be dropped off at the locations listed below during regular business hours. All items should be clean, on hangers and ready to wear. At the conclusion of this year’s drive, the TCBF’s Community Outreach Committee will deliver the clothing to Tulsa area charitable organizations, including the Salvation Army, John 3:16 Mission, and Women in Recovery, who truly appreciate and utilize your donation of professional attire to better our community. Your generosity is greatly appreciated (and tax deductible.) Tax receipts will be made available if you leave your name, mailing address, and a general description of the items donated at the time you drop off your donations. Let’s have a wonderful holiday season, and build on the past success of this drive by cleaning out our closets and helping Tulsans get back to work!
